Please note:

All typing and crossmatch samples for solid organ transplant patients (kidney, heart, lung, liver, pancreas) must be booked in.

All PTP and NAIT cases must be booked in with platelet scientists prior to sample collections.

Sample Labelling:

Please label all samples with name, date of birth and sample collection date.
Please indicate on the accompanying paperwork the patient diagnosis, tests required, and, if the sample is from a family member of a patient, the relationship to the patient.
Label any known infectious samples accordingly.

Please be aware that ARCBS sample labelling guidelines are very strict.

We cannot process samples that do not have at least two unique identifiers (Must be the same on both sample tubes & pathology request form).

Sample Packaging:

Please package all samples and accompanying paperwork in a biohazard plastic bag and place in a sealed container. This should then be placed in a sealed esky or similar outer container.

Serum samples may be refrigerated, but typing samples (ACD /EDTA ) should be maintained at room temperature.

Transportation:

Samples should be transported at room temperature and reach the laboratory within 24 hours of collection.
